NASA is on a journey to Mars.

They have set a goal of sending humans to there in the 2030s

The goal of NASA from now on is clear.  They are working tirelessly to get to Mars.  The rovers on Mars now are giving them needed information on the surface, climate and atmosphere of Mars.  They have a new system in place to land the next rovers that will be sent to Mars.  It is very high tech and futuristic.  This is the next step they are taking.

Then they are also trying to capture asteroids and bring them back to the moon's orbit.  When they do this, the asteroid could be mined for needed resources here on Earth.

Then lastly their goal is to send people to Mars.  There is still a great deal of planning to do.  One concern is that we do not know how to travel fast enough to make the trip shorter than the four or so years it would take us to get there with the speed of our rockets.  How do your store food and water for that long without a trip to a market?  How do you get fuel for the trip?  These are just some of the questions that have to be answered.

Privatization Excursions into Space

Private corporations have made great strides into space exploration.

Private companies have accomplished a great deal in their successes and learned from their failures in attempting to go into space.  They had to fight to have the opportunity to go into space because NASA was not sure about sharing it.  What NASA has learned is that these companies have the tools, financial help and ability to help them continue their journey into space.  This was shown when SpaceX  used Cape Canaveral to send  a payload to the Space Station on February 19th, 2017.  It is obvious with government cutbacks that NASA will need these organizations to help them further their dreams.

What are some of the achievements that these companies have made or are promising to make.  Here are a few:

  • Space X plans to offer people the opportunity to go around the moon by 2018.

  • Virgin Galactic already offers people rides high into our atmosphere and now they are planning to put satellites into orbit.

  • United Launch Alliance, which is Boeing and Lockheed Martin's joint effort to build rockets for NASA to launch.

  • Bigelow Aerospace is a company that has built modules to make a space station.
